Approach
Give breakwater ½ cable clearance, passing to port of small G con. Keep parallel and as close as reasonable to breakwater inside harbour until moorings are sighted. Beware TSS across harbour entrance. Enter marina (Ch37) or pick up any free mooring and call Holyhead Sailing Club launch on Ch 37 (0900 - 2100).
Dangers
Races and severe overfalls off South Stack, North Stack and Carmel Head, the latter extending into Holyhead Bay. No underwater dangers, but overfalls can be dangerous even to well found boat at the wrong state of tide and wind. Avoid patch in harbour marked by two R. Can lit buoys and two G. Con. buoys. (Platters & Skinner rocks), close N of Ro-Ro terminal.
Shelter
Protected in all conditions, but strong north-easterlies can create considerable lop on moorings.
