Port Dinorwic has a boat yard and offers facilities including
sail repairs.
Approach
Avoid historic wreck opposite Nelsons Statue, west of Britannia
Bridge, by keeping to north of channel until Straits turns south. To
enter Port Dinorwic Yacht Hr. (Vaynol Dock) turn when entrance to
lock opens up. Keep close to south wall. Lock opens HW ±2½ hours
(approx). Use same approach to enter tidal basin. The approach to
Dinas boatyard is clean outshore of the moorings.
Dangers
None away from extremities of channel. Caution needed near Historic
wreck. Entrance to Dock dries, with shoal patch extending to within
50m of harbour (South) wall. Fierce tide across entrance of tidal
basin. Pontoons in tidal basin dry at Springs.
Shelter
In Dinorwic Yacht Harbour (fresh water dock - lock in) shelter is
total. Alternatively pontoon berth may be available in tidal basin.
Good holding inshore of moorings. Do not dry out - rocky and foul.
Alternatively pick up a private mooring at the south end of PD. Lock
operates approx. ±0230 HW.
Dinas Boatyard (SW extremity of bay) has hoist and slipping
facilities (16 ton). Eddy and tidal set across entrance
